So it has all come down to this. One student, 8 posts BUT ONLY 3 WINNERS. Without further adieu, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls… My favourite BCM112 posts.

NUMBER 1: Internet = Good

Much like the title of this post, the blog itself is quite short and to the point. I don’t mess around with this bad boy. And obviously I am not the only one who liked this blog as it has 4 favourites (YES!). I think that the use of the graph embedded, and the fact that it is hyperlinked to its source to provide additional information is beneficial to the post and provides a simple and intuitive approach to a complex topic. The post is brief and coherent which compliments the concise nature of the text. I feel the topic was appropriate when dealing with the emerging technology of 3D Printing. Overall this was one of my best posts due to its simplicity and cohesiveness.

NUMBER 2: Not the Droids You’re Looking For.

Probably my favourite title of all my blogs but this post is more that just a pretty name. I found the argument about open and closed source most fascinating and very relevant to 3D Printing. I think using direct quotes was beneficial to the credibility of the post. The post provides a balanced argument on the advantages and disadvantages of both open and closed source ultimately concluding that neither is better, they are good in different situations. An objective view on the topic provides a balanced argument leaving the reader to decide which would be better for 3D Printing.

NUMBER 3: You wouldn’t steal a car, yes, but I’d download one if I could!

The use of both, factual information and graphics contributes greatly to the success of this post. Piracy is a significant problem in today’s media. I believe the post concisely highlights the copyright  laws significant to piracy. The post elaborates on the unethical use of copyrighted information and its implications on 3D Printing. Piracy in 3D Printing is discussed with links to relevant articles and sources adding to the credibility of the information used. The article utilises various ways of presenting information to simplify a difficult topic and relate it to the emerging technology of 3D Printing.

So there you have it, my personal favourite posts. This marks the end of my compulsory blogging about 3D Printing, however I have been thinking of creating a personal blog. I’ll post the link on this blog if I do create a personal blog, but for now goodbye.

What I have learned from my blog posts.

If i were to summarise what i have learned from doing my BCM110 blog posts, it would probably look a little something like this.

Looking back down to my older posts (although it has only been 6 weeks), for me, is not unlike venturing back into Myspace (that thing that was ‘hip’ when you were 13). I just dont understand what I was even trying to do. But that in itself, is a reflection on my progression as a blogger, however just wait until I look back at this in another 6 weeks.

I have learned that the media plays a huge role in Australia, it keps us informed about all the happenings of the world, as well as entertaining us. I have also learned that what could once be considered ‘reliable’ and ‘accurate’ media sources (such as Television) may not be as reliable as i thought before i began my degree. With my 300 word limit, i cannot cover how important the Media’s role in society is, but to quickly overview… Media is in charge of : information, education, entertainment, advertising and correlation of parts of society.

So in these 6 weeks of blogging I feel that i have grown as a blogger and writer. I enjoyed the idea of writing about media within the media of blogging. Probably the most difficult thing i found about these blogs is the world limit. I found I could write more than 300 words or in some instances struggled to reach that 300. It’s all part of the task.
